DIY Mirror Wall Hanging
Okay, so this was a VERY last minute DIY! Basically we had this piece of art above our dining table for a looooong time, I never loved it, but couldn’t figure out what to put there instead. Anybody else have this problem with a spot in your home?! But, THEN one day I was at the dollar store of all places and spotted two round mirrors for a really good price (duh, I was at the dollar store). They were cute but needed a little something, that’s where the DIY comes in!
They turned out so dang cute, and also happen to be super easy & cheap – win, win, win! They look SO much more expensive than they actually were, plus you can customize the colors to match your home! I used tan and pink and they look SO good in our dining room. (You can see photos of our dining room at the end of this post).
We should probably just get started on the easiest and cutest DIY ever to exist! Let’s go!
PS. I’ve made some other fun home decor posts, like this large wall hanging, these DIY tassel pillows, this hanging earring holder, and these plant print napkins!
SUPPLIES
Mirror – 15 inches (I got mine for $10 each from the dollar store, so check there first, but here is a similar one).
0.125″ Dowel
Screw Driver
Needle
DIRECTIONS
- Attach your leather cord to hang the mirror. My mirrors had this super ugly cord on it already, so I just cut my cord to the length of the existing cord and screwed it on using my screw driver after taking the old one off. PS. I cut my cord to 22 inches.
- Cut your dowel (it’s so skinny you can just use scissors). I cut mine to 12 inches for my 15 inch mirror. Then cut a tonnn of pieces of yarn the same length as each other, mine were about 36 inches.
- Fold each piece of yarn in half, and then fold the loop overtop of your dowel, and pull the end through, then tighten (see photos).
- Repeat the last step until you fill the entire dowel.
- Glue the dowel onto the back of your mirror at either end.
- Trim your yarn, then hang it up!
A closer look at how to loop the yarn:
See? So easy! You really could just update a mirror you already have with this technique! If you don’t like the frame, just spray paint it! Then add the yarn and BAM you have a cute wall hanging!
If you’re curious, here is how the mirrors look in our dining room, I’m SO happy with them!!
Hope you guys love this DIY Mirror Wall Hanging as much as I do! If you make it, pretty PLEASE tag or DM me @mikylacreates – that would make my day!!
