DIY Beaded Plant Hanger

Today’s DIY came simply from me wanting a plant hanger for the corner of our bedroom. But, since I already have a couple macrame plant hangers in our home I wanted something different. And, if I’m being honest, I wanted something quick and easy #realtalk. Even though I have a bunch of macrame around my house and I am a DIYer I haven’t made any of it – lol! I just don’t have the patience. So, believe me when I say that this DIY is easyyyyy. I literally cut corners anywhere I could – ha!

I kind of think that my laziness when it comes to DIY is what makes me a good DIY blogger because you always KNOW that whatever DIY of mine that you make it’s going to be easy and fast – guaranteed! Maybe it’s actually a bad thing (probably), but I choose to look at it as a strength.

Anywayssss, I think this plant hanger turned out SO CUTE, you could also paint some of the beads to add some *flair* but I just wanted mine to be neutral. Alrighty, we should get started!!

SUPPLIES:

Wooden Beads (this is the pack I always use!)

Cotton Twine

Scissors

Tape

Plant Hook (to hang it once you’ve finished making it)

DIRECTIONS:

1. Basically you start by making a very long bead garland, so cut a long piece of string (mine was roughly 9 ft.).
2. Since the pack of beads that I buy (& recommend) has three different sizes of beads I first choose the bead pattern that I’m going for before I begin stringing them on.
3. Add tape to the end of your string, this will make it WAY easier to string your beads on.
4. Start adding the beads to the string in your chosen pattern. Continue until you have filled up most of the string (it’s so relaxing and easy).
5. Once you have your string of beads you are going to tie the ends of your garland together so that you are left with one giant circle of beads.
6. Then fold the circle in half, then fold it in half again. There will be two “handles” at the top and two at the bottom, hold the two at the top and twist the bottom two together (as pictured).
7. Place your plant pot so that it is sitting on top where the twisted part is, look you’ve got a plant hanger and you’re almost done!
8. Technically you can stop here, but the pot could technically fall out, so I just made another shorter string of beads and wrapped it around my pot, on the outside of the plant hanger, then tied it. I tucked the string in between the beads so that it looked like it is attached, so sneaky 😉
9. That’s it! Trim all of your loose string, hang it up with a plant hook and you’re good to go!! You’ve got a pretty plant hanger that only took a few minutes to make!
