Kitchen Tour + Before & After

Can’t believe I get to give you a tour of my tiny kitchen that I LOVE and have worked so hard on!! It started out as a pretty crappy 90s vibes oak cabinet kitchen that was super dated, and well, aggressively not cute. As I’ve said before, we don’t plan on staying here long, so we didn’t want to invest a lot of money into renovating it, but still want it to feel like us for the time being. Enter: DIY – the only way I could make that happen – ha!

Below is what our kitchen looked like before and then what it looks like now! A huge difference if you ask me – but admittedly the biggest difference is paint and a little DIY!

Here’s what we did for this transformation:

Painted the Cabinets

We painted the Top Cabinets: Behr Palais White and the Bottom Cabinets: Behr Ash Blonde (my fave). It was a lot of time consuming work but well worth it in my opinion. You can find the tutorial HERE!

Painted & Epoxied the Counters

We used THIS KIT to paint and epoxy faux marble countertops! When people come over they often make a comment on how they’re not artistic enough to do so – but it *surprisingly* takes hardly ANY artistic talent! So fun and easy! A weekend project start to finish! You can find the tutorial HERE!

Added Open Shelving

If you look at the before photo there is a super awkward cabinet floating all by itself on the left side of the window. Since it really blocked light and was just straight up awkward and hard to reach, we decided to add open shelving. It ends up being just as much if not more storage than the cabinet, makes the kitchen feel more open and is so pretty! Plus it’s now so easy to grab a plate or a bowl! We just bought wood from the hardware store and used these gold brackets to hang them!

Switched out the Hardware

Switching the basic knobs to pretty gold cabinet pulls and these amazinggg half moon drawer pulls made such a huge difference!

Sticking to a Color Palette

Sticking to a color palette:
1. Makes it easier to decorate because you have direction
2. Makes it feel cohesive and purposeful.
3. Makes it feel less messy and cluttered because everything goes together and nothing jumps out or feels out of place.

We went with light woods, white, light pinks, tan and coral.
