DIY 5 Min Stone Mid Century Planter

Today’s DIY is exciting because it’s a collab with a friend of mine who is also a DIY blogger – AMANDA! Head here to check out her blog – you won’t regret it!! Anyways, we decided to make a DIY that would be fun for spring, but also one that is simple and that we can both put our own twist on! So we each bought two bowls (mine were only $1 each!) and we made a planter out of them! We didn’t know how the other was going to design theirs, but they both ended up looking SO cute! So be sure to head to Amanda’s blog to see how hers turned out!!

PS. If you like plant DIYs I’ve made a few *shocker* Find them here, here and here!

This DIY was so, so easy, and yet I think it looks expensive and trendy, even though it’s made out of $1 bowls!! I love the unique shape it has, and cannot wait for you to see how I made it because it was just that easy and fun!

So, we better just get started!!

  1. Glue the bottoms of your two bowls together.
  2. Spray the entire thing with textured stone spray paint.
  3. Mix your custom color. I mixed white with burnt orange and tan. I LOVE how it turned out, but you can use any color!
  4. Add baking soda to your mixture to add texture and to make it look more like stoneware.
  5. Paint two thirds of the planter with your custom color.
  6. Add a scallop design with a smaller brush by just painting half circles along the edge of your painted section. Let dry then just add a plant!
