Time to share this DIY gardener family costume! I just want to start by saying that I am obsessed with Cooper as a gnome, like has there ever been anything cuter?! No. Okay, now that we have that out of the way…moving on. So, the thing I love about this costume is that it works great as a family costume, it works great as a couple a costume, and it works great as a single costume! A gardener and a flower would be SO cute on their own, just a flower would be hecka cute too, but I’ve got to say, love them all together!

The second thing I love about this costume (other than that dang GNOME *heart eyes*) is that you probably have most of these things in your house already – we didn’t buy a single thing for the gardener costume, only some felt for the gnome and paper for the flower! What a bonus! With all that being said, let’s get started!!

SUPPLIES

For the Flower:

Pink Cardstock

Green Cardstock

Hard Headband

Hot Glue

Tape

Petal Template (above)

Green Dress

For the Gardener:

Plaid Shirt (simular)

Suspenders

Straw Hat

Boots (similar)

Watering can (similar)

For the Gnome:

White Cardstock or Party Hat

Blue, Red and White Felt

Elastic

Hot Glue

Cone and Beard Template (above)

DIRECTIONS:

For the Flower:

1. Use template and trace petal shape onto pink paper.
2. Cut out petals (I used 8).
3. Fold ends of petals and glue them onto headband.
4. Once all the petals have been glued, put your headband on and mark where you petals need to be glued together so that they don’t flop around. Then glue together.
5. Use template to cut out leaf shapes (I cut out 7).
6. Fold ends of leaves and tape them to the inside of your neckline.
7. I also taped a leaf to each wrist (the tape was hidden under my sleevs).

For the Gnome:

1. Use a party hat or the template to make your gnome hat base.
2. If you are using the template, glue the edges together.
3. Wrap your cone in blue felt and glue, then cut the excess off.
4. Use the beard template to trace onto white felt, then cut.
5. Use a small piece of elastic and glue to either side of beard, and then to either side of the hat.
6. Cute out a mushroom but cutting out a blob shape out of red felt (I freehanded this). Then, cut out a stem and three small circles out of white. Glue onto hat.
