4 Simple Last Minute DIY Halloween Costumes
If you need a last minute Halloween costume (as we all do at some point because, you know, planning ahead is hard) then you’d come to the right place! All of these costumes are what I like to call ‘costume toppers’ meaning that they are all just little hats that you can wear with a regular outfit, but you’re still dressed up! These costumes may be simple and easy but they are still unique, creative, and very original! You for sure won’t find anyone dressed up like you (which is the worst).

I partnered with ColorShot for this post which is awesome because I’d use their products for my costumes anyways! They primarily make *really high quality* spray paint, but they also make acrylic paint which I have used before and loved. But, the really exciting thing is that I got to use their paint pens which are amazing!! It’s real paint in a pen form and they are so easy and fun to use! *cue a million DIY projects* Anyways, each project uses a different product and they were all so easy and fun! Have I mentioned that I love making Halloween costumes?!
ALSO!! All of these costumes could easily be transformed into couples costumes if you wanted to! The ice cream could be paired with an ice cream man, the pencil, a lined piece of paper, the floral cat ears, another set of floral cat ears but in another color, and the soda can.. well another soda can! So many possibilities! How cute would a little friend posse of soda cans be?! Answer: very cute.
Okay, let’s get started on th simple and easy peasy Halloween costumes!
THE ICE CREAM CONE:
SUPPLIES:
ColorShot Paint Pens in Colors:
Brownie Points
Emoji
Aromatherapy
Island girl
Summer Pedicure

White T-Shirt
Tan Colored Card Stock Paper
Headband
Party Hat
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors
DIRECTIONS:
- Unfold you party hat, lay it down flat on your tan paper and trace it.
- Cut it out, then use a ruler and your paint pen in color ‘brownie points’ to draw a grid pattern on your paper.
- Glue it together in a cone shape, then use your hot glue gun to glue it onto your headband.
- Take your white T-shirt and draw sprinkles (aka small lines) onto it in your various colors. I tried to scatter the colors and make the sprinkles go in different directions. I only drew sprinkles at the top of my shirt.
- Pair your cone and sprinkle shirt together and there you go – you’re an ice cream cone!
THE PENCIL:

Little Black Dress
Emoji
Paintbrush
Yellow T-shirt
Party Hat
Headband
Tan Colored Cardstock Paper
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
DIRECTIONS:
- Unfold you party hat, lay it down flat on your tan paper and trace it.
- Cut it out, then glue it together in a cone shape.
- Paint a sqiggly yellow line (with your ColorShot paint in ‘Emoji’) along the bottom of the cone, and then fill that shape in.
- Paint the tip of your cone black (the color ‘little black dress’ in ColorShot Paint).
- Glue the pencil tip onto your headband!
- Wear a yellow shirt with your pencil hat and BAM you’re a pencil (bonus points if you wear pink shoes to be the eraser).
THE SODA CAN:
SUPPLIES:
ColorShot Spray Paint in Color ‘Princess Cut’
Cardboard
Headband
Outline of Soda Can Tab (Download Below)
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
Download The Soda Can Tab Outline Below:
DIRECTIONS:
- Cut out soda can tab outline, then trace onto cardboard. Cut that out as well.
- Spray paint both sides of cardboard with ColorShot spray paint in color ‘Princess Cut’.
- Glue your cardboard soda can tab onto side of headband, and that’s it!!
THE CAT EARS:
SUPPLIES:
ColorShot Gold Spray Paint
Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Glue
Cat Ear Headband
Assorted Faux Flowers
Scissors
DIRECTIONS:
- Spray paint cat ears gold.
- Cut flowers apart, trim the stems off. Use an assortment of colors, sizes and shapes, but stay within a color scheme.
- Glue your flowers onto the cat ears using Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Glue. Make sure to mix the bigger and smaller flowers together while gluing. I would typically glue a big flower and then two small ones beside it. I cut some leaves off of my faux flower stems and added those to my cat ears last.
- Wait for the glue to dry then enjoy being a cute little floral cat!
