Things to do in Sacramento – Travel Guide
I am determined to travel and see all of California, so naturally California’s Capitol was on my list. But, here’s the thing, Sacramento gets a really bad rap, when I told people that we were spending a couple days in Sacramento, I got a few weird looks, and questions like “why?” or “What’s in Sacramento?”. I’m here to tell you that Sacramento is a GREAT city and there are so many things to do and cute places to go – spread the word!!
Ps. You can find the rest of my travel guides here!
So, just in case you want to discover this very cute city for yourself, here are all the best spots that made me love Sacramento (and even tempted to move there!) I have included places to eat, places to get coffee, places to see, and what to do in Sacramento, California!
Temple Coffee Roasters
Honestly, this is a must do, and that’s saying a lot for a non-coffee drinker such as myself. First of all Temple Coffee Roasters is famous in Sacramento, second, it is so beautiful and unique inside, third, it was one of the best chai lattes I’ve ever had (top 3 for sure). There are a ton of them around the city, but the prettiest one is the one that I have linked here. Visit it here!
Old Town Sacramento
So, this was my husbands favorite thing we did. He said that it felt like a movie set, and I have to agree. It has super cool vibes, and is very old western which was super neat. There were a lot of places to explore, plus it was right on the river! There are some shops and restaurants, but, honestly, the appeal is just how cool it looks! Find it here!
Tower Bridge
If you’re already at Old Town Sacramento, you might as well walk over to Tower Bridge, because it’s right there! I mean, it is just a bridge, except it’s GOLD, I mean, don’t you want to see the gold bridge?! Also, there is a place to walk across, and there are good views! Find it here!
Milk Money
OKAY. I am always down for a good donut shop. Always. Especially when it is so dang cute. They have beignets, donuts, and ice cream, and it is YUM. Location linked here!
Beast and Bounty
This restaurant is right beside Milk Money, it is so cute inside, and has unique and high quality food. It’s a little pricey, but totally worth it. Visit it here!
We’re all in it together wall
Okay, so once you have lunch and donuts, head right across the street to this cute, and colorful wall that says “We’re all in it together” for the perfect photo op. Find it here!
Andy’s Candy Apothecary
This is a little modern candy store with vintage vibes. They make their own candy, and let me tell yah, it IS a little pricey, we almost didn’t get any, but SO SO worth it. My mouth is watering just thinking about it (haha, seriously). Find it here!
Midtown Farmer’s Market
We stumbled upon this farmer’s market and it’s so good! Plus, I just looked it up and it is every Saturday morning year round!! Also, I just have to mention that those flowers up there were TEN DOLLARS! It’s worth it just for that!! Find it here!
Wal Public Market
This is a little market full of tiny boutiques and restaurants. It’s fun to walk around the little shops, plus there are some cute shops and things in the area as well! A fun stop! Visit it here!
Jungle Wall
Right outside the market is this cute wall, and I thought it deserved some recognition! Location linked here!
Camellia Coffee Roasters
Located in Wal Public Market is the cutest little coffee shop, the pink and green accents, ugh, I love it! Find it here!
Selland’s Market Café
OKIE DOKIE, this place is SO GOOD. It is so fresh, with so many options, and so, so yummy. It is counter service, super affordable, but feels fancy. I could go on and on, 1000% going back here! Location linked here!
East Sacramento Fabulous Forties District
If you’re into pretty neighborhoods, and looking at gorgeous houses, then you’ll love taking a stroll in the fab forties district. Pictured above is Ronald Regan’s old house, which is located right in the heart of the district. Visit it here!
The Capitol Building
So, obviously you have to see the Sacramento Capitol Building, you just have to! But, honestly, it is gorgeous, and totally worth the visit anyways! Find it here!
State Capitol Park | World Peace Rose Garden
So, I accidentally found this spot while trying to find something else on Google Maps, but 100% including it because it is so pretty! Behind the Capitol Building is this amazing park, and in that park is this rose garden, which roses in every color, it’s huge and amazing, and you have to go! Bonus: Across from the rose garden is a cacti garden which is also stunning! Find it here!
There you have it! I bet you didn’t know there were so many amazing spot in Sacramento, and I hope this post helps give Sacramento some love that it deserves!!
Your list is lovely. Thank you for all of your suggestions and for sharing your light.
