DIY Polymer Clay Nativity Set
I know this is cutting it so close to Christmas, but this DIY truly took me 20 minutes to make, so you have time!! I’ve never had a nativity set, but have always wanted one. The ones in stores, or online for that matter, are too big for our space, or are too cheesy, colorful, or let’s face it… ugly. So after years of looking I finally decided to just MAKE one. It’s so simple and sweet – I love how it turned out! Plus it only costs a few dollars to make – WIN!
I promise that this DIY takes no artistic talent, it’s really just rolling out simple shapes. Let’s get started on this lil cutie of a nativity scene!

SUPPLIES:
Sculpey Polymer Clay
You could use any color, but I used the color ‘latte’
Oven
DIRECTIONS:
- Roll out your clay into a (1/4 inch thick) long oval
- Use a ruler and exacto knife to cut it onto a long rectangle.
- Form it into an arch. When baking it, lay it on its side, and use two bowls to help keep its shape.
- Roll out two balls and two cone shapes. I made one smaller and one bigger of each, because I wanted Mary to be smaller than Joseph.
- Trim the top and bottom of the cone shapes.
- Roll out a small oval and a small ball, and attach them together to form baby Jesus.
- Add your balls to the tops of your cones to form Mary and Joseph.
- Use and exacto knife to cut out your star, I just kept trimming it until it looked ok. I then attached it to my arch.
There you go! Now you have a cute and simple DIY Polymer Clay Nativity Set to display all season long! it’s so easy, but I think I’ll be displaying it for years to come! So happy I finally have one!
