DIY Painted Arch Headboard + Bedroom Tour
Hey guys!! So there’s a bit of a story behind this DIY painted arch headboard! Basically, we moved to Canada (from California) and had to quarantine for two weeks, so during that two weeks we went crazy with unpacking, painting and decorating! When we moved I was DESPERATE to get settled and make a space that felt like home as soon as possible. So, if you’re like me and want a cute accent for cheap AND fast – then it doesn’t get much better than this!!
I can’t say enough great things about this DIY – honestly, it took about an hour total, cost almost no money and adds SO much to a space! I have also made another color block arch before in an office that you can see HERE! I loveee how that one turned out too, but that one was more just for decoration, but I think it’s so cool how this one acts as a headboard! If you don’t want to invest in something like a fancy headboard – this is PERFECT. And, in my opinion, looks just as great!

Mini Bedroom Tour
We painted and decorated the entire room in two days, which was pretty rushed (it took us a full day to paint it white) but I’m so happy with how it all came together! it’s pretty simple, but I think that bedrooms should be simple, cause I think that they’re more relaxing that way!
Below is a little before and after action!! The room was a teal color before and the bed was in a different spot. By painting the room white and switching up the layout, it made the room feel so much bigger and way brighter! It honestly feels like a brand new room – it felt so dark before!
We got this dresser from IKEA, but I definitely did not love how it looked, so I just switched out the handles that it came with these ones I got on amazon and it looks soo much better!!
DIY Painted Arch Headboard Tutorial:
Okay, it’s time for the DIY headboard tutorial, and it’s even easier than it looks if you can believe it!! So, let’s get started on how to make it!
SUPPLIES
Wall Paint (The sample size is only about $5)
String
Thumb Tac
Scissors
Paint Brush (I ended up using a little roller, and a teeny, tiny paintbrush as well)
Pencil
Painters Tape
DIRECTIONS
- Measure out the width of your arch. I measured our bed, and then made it a tiny bit smaller. Make pencil marks for each edge of the arch, and then mark the center. I wanted my arch to start lower than my bed, so that you can’t see where the arch ends when the bed is in front of it.
- Place a tac with a string tied to it at your center mark. at the other end of the string tie on your pencil. Tie your pencil so that when you stretch the string out it reaches exactly to the edge marks. Then carefully draw a line keeping the string tight the whole way, this should create a perfect arch!
- Once you have your arch drawn, decide where you want it to end, then measure and use a level to tape a line across the bottom of your arch.
- Time for the fun part – painting your arch! I used a little roller for the large area and then used a paint brush to carefully paint the edges. I did two coats of each! Then I went back with a super tiny brush to fix my mistakes and smooth it out a little! Then you just wait for it to dry and that’s it!!
Back when we first painted it and I was pregnant – ha!
