DIY Donut Clutch
What’s the most exciting holiday besides Christmas? That’s right it’s National Donut Day, June 5 – obviously (it’s already passed, but you can celebrate everyday if you ask me). But, seriously if you know me, you know how much I love donuts! Whenever I visit a new city I make it my mission to find a cute donut shop. The college I went to was right next to a gourmet donut shop, so I went there an embarrassing amount, and thus started my deep love for donuts. My all-time fave flavor is lemon poppyseed! I’m also a sucker for sprinkle donuts because they are the cutest #realtalk.

Anyways, when Tulip Color asked me to create a DIY for national donut day I was like, “How did you guys know about my deep love for donuts?!” Of course, they didn’t know, but it was just meant to be! I used their fabric markers for this DIY and they are so so so easy to use, plus they come in a reusable case #winwin. I love that the markers add so much to the project without having to use embroidery, fabric paint, etc. So easy, quick, and mess free!
You know when you love something and then everyone you know decides to buy you stuff with that ‘thing’ on it? That’s how it is with me and donuts. I have a total of four donut mugs, none of which I’ve actually purchase myself. I love them, but donut products tend to be a little cheesy and childish for my liking. Which is how this DIY donut clutch came to be! I wanted to create something inspired by my favorite dessert, but not screaming about it if you know what I’m saying. I think I did just that!
This DIY is truly so simple, it only took me about an hour to make! I also love that it’s neutral so that you can pair it with so many outfits! If you are a fellow donut lover, first of all, welcome to the club, now let’s make your donut clutch!
SUPPLIES:
Thick White Fabric (I repurposed an old tote).
Pink Embroidery Thread
DIY DONUT PURSE DIRECTIONS:
- Take a scrap piece of paper as well as two bowls (one big, and one small) and trace out a donut shape.
- Then cut out your donut shape. Test it out on your clutch to see if it’s the right size & adjust accordingly.
- Once you have your donut shape, practice drawing sprinkles, so that you don’t mess up on your fabric!
- Trace your paper donut onto your fabric
- Cut out the donut shape!
- Take your Tulip fabric markers and start drawing sprinkles, be sure to stay away from the edges.
- *Optional* One you are done drawing your sprinkles, stitch around the edge of your donut with embroidery thread. I just made a super simple stitch. This just makes the DIY look more polished in my opinion without actually having to bother sewing it onto your clutch.
- Take your Aleene’s fabric glue and glue the fabric onto your clutch! Yay!! You’re done!
